Welcome to Klay.
These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) are an agreement between you and the developer of Klay — Stash Your Bill & Pay (“Klay,” “we,” or “us”). They apply when you install or use the Klay Android app, this website, and any related pages that link to these Terms. Klay’s Privacy Policy explains how information is handled.
By using Klay, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app or website. You must be able to enter into a binding agreement under the law that applies to you. Klay is a general-purpose bill-splitting utility; it is not designed, marketed, or intended primarily for children under 13, or the higher minimum age required in your country. If a minor uses Klay where permitted, the minor should do so only with the involvement and permission of a parent or legal guardian. If you use Klay for a group, you are responsible for having the authority to enter information for that group.
02 / The service
Klay is a local bill-splitting tool.
Klay helps you record bills, split totals, calculate tips and taxes, organize friends and groups, track balances, log payments, set optional reminders, and create summaries or backup files. It supports equal and itemized splits, multiple currencies, and a simplified “who owes who” view.
What Klay is not: Klay is not a bank, payment processor, wallet, escrow service, lender, accountant, tax adviser, or financial adviser. It does not move money, verify that a payment happened, or guarantee that a person will pay.
Calculations are tools to help you discuss and record a bill. Review the result before relying on it, especially when rounding, custom splits, taxes, tips, or currency details matter.
The website is informational and Klay does not currently provide an online account, cloud-sync service, payment service, or financial product. Availability and features may vary by device, Android version, country, and distribution channel.
Klay is not a child-directed game or education product. If children are ever included in the app’s Play Console target audience, the app must first be reassessed against Google Play’s Families Policy and the target-audience requirements.
03 / Your responsibility
The information is yours to check.
- Enter accurate totals, line items, participant names, payer details, payment instructions, due dates, and payment status.
- Make sure you have permission to use another person’s name, image, payment information, or receipt before saving or sharing it.
- Protect access to your phone, exported files, backups, and any cloud account or messaging app you use to share them.
- Use Klay only for lawful purposes and do not use it to impersonate, harass, defraud, or expose someone’s private information.
- Confirm amounts and recipients with the people involved. A Klay record is not proof that money has been transferred.
04 / Payments and reminders
A record is not a transaction.
Klay can mark a share as paid, log a payment amount and date, and store a proof-of-payment image if you choose. Those actions update your local record only. Klay does not connect to a bank, payment rail, card network, or digital wallet, and does not confirm that funds were received.
Optional reminders are generated on your device. Android settings, battery management, permissions, time changes, and device availability can affect when a notification appears. Klay does not promise that every reminder will be delivered at a particular time.
05 / Sharing and exports
Choose the audience before you tap share.
You may share text, CSV, JSON, image, or PDF output using Android’s system share sheet or document picker. You are responsible for reviewing the content, selecting the right recipient, and complying with the rules that apply to the destination service.
Exported files can include names, amounts, payment instructions, status, and attached images. Once a file is sent to another app, device, person, or cloud provider, that recipient controls its copy. Klay cannot retrieve, delete, or secure copies outside the app.
Backups are provided for your convenience. Keep a backup somewhere safe if you need one; Klay is not a cloud synchronization service and cannot restore a file you did not save.
06 / Google Play and third parties
The store and the destination app have their own rules.
If you download Klay from Google Play, your use of Google Play and Google-operated services is also subject to the Google Play Terms of Service and Google’s applicable terms. The Google Play Store privacy information (Google Privacy Policy) explains how Google handles information through Google Play. Klay does not control Google’s processing, store availability, account services, security checks, updates, or transaction services.
Before installing, review the Klay listing and its Google Play Data safety section. When you export or share a file, the receiving app, person, device, email provider, messaging service, or cloud provider may apply additional terms and privacy practices. You are responsible for reviewing those rules and choosing an appropriate destination.
07 / Ownership
Klay’s work remains Klay’s work.
The Klay name, app, visual identity, mascot, icon, software, and original content are owned by or licensed to the developer and are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. These Terms give you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable permission to use the app for its intended purpose.
You may not copy, sell, sublicense, reverse engineer, distribute, or create a competing service from Klay or its assets except where applicable law does not allow that restriction. You keep ownership of the data and files you create or import.
08 / Disclaimers and limits
Use Klay with reasonable care.
To the extent permitted by law, Klay is provided “as is” and “as available,” without promises that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, compatible with every device, or suitable for every purpose. You use the calculations, reminders, records, and exports at your own judgment.
To the extent permitted by law, the developer will not be responsible for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive losses, or for loss caused by inaccurate input, missed reminders, device failure, unauthorized access to your device or exports, third-party services, or a payment dispute between people using the app.
Some places do not allow certain exclusions or limits. In those places, the exclusions and limits apply only to the extent the law allows.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits a right, remedy, warranty, or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited where you live, including mandatory consumer protections. These Terms are not intended to take away rights you have under applicable local law.
09 / Changes and contact
Keep an eye on this page.
We may update these Terms when the app, its features, or the law changes. The “Last updated” date will show when the current version took effect. Where applicable law requires advance notice or consent for a material change, we will provide it. Otherwise, continuing to use Klay after an update means you accept the revised Terms.
You may stop using Klay and uninstall it at any time. We may change, suspend, or discontinue the app or website, subject to applicable law. Because Klay is offline-first, stopping use does not delete exports or copies that you saved outside the app.
